While we were on the mark in judging the voter displeasure with the Mayor, we underestimated a number of factors. Many voters feared that Mr. Finkbeiner would have access to the petition signatures. Other voters were concerned that if the recall were successful, Carty Finkbeiner would be allowed to run for office in 2001 avoiding current term limitations. We also ran into allot of voter apathy due to having survived the Mayor for 6 years combined with an uninspiring replacement if the recall was successful.
And lastly, Mr Finkbeiner has avoided any major gaffs that would have motivated the public into action. Our compliments to his handlers. This was no small feat.
This campaign was a very enlightening experience in which we gained much knowledge.
